·        1999- : Managing knowledge in respect of public policy, legal and case law developments affecting employee benefits, health cover and social security. The owner manager started and has owner-managed his own business since 1999. Consultancies, boards of trustees, administrators, and other bodies utilise his knowledge products. Standard knowledge products and bespoke strategic and tactical services are offered.

 

·        1994-1999: Senior managerial national and regional marketing functions, focusing on co-ordination and implementation of product and services development; and market development plans. The owner manager was Group Marketing Manager of the local arm of the world’s second largest employee benefits consultancy, which included a suite of funds-of-funds. Key lessons learnt on how (a) not to manage a company, (b) to run a company into a ground, (c) not care for low-level staff and (d) to bluster.

 

·        1998 – 1994: Market, product and services development: He was also Senior Manager Marketing of South Africa’s third largest employee benefits insurer and fund administrator. Extensive involvement in market, products and services development.

 

·        1982-1998: In-depth hands-on rules and policy drafting; and offering of advice on legal and tax aspects and practical implications. The owner manager started his career at the same insurer as above “on the ground floor”, as a contracts drafter in 1982, leaving as Departmental Manager when promoted.
